Collection: DOGU VASE

The ceramic figurines known as *dogū* were created by the people of Japan’s ancient Jōmon period. These *dogū* were carefully crafted, then deliberately broken and buried throughout villages. This practice suggests they were used in rituals for purposes such as warding off evil or praying for safe childbirth.

Each *dogū* was made with care and intention, reflecting the creator’s thoughts for someone special. Their refined shapes convey a sense of beauty and a fully realized worldview.

This time, I have reimagined the *dogū*, a symbol of prayers and wishes, as a single-flower vase. Adding a flower to these ancient forms can be a deeply meaningful act—a way to connect with the thoughts and emotions of the people who created them long ago.
