Tomoki Kuroda

There’s no clear purpose — but it feels good just to be there.

Dogū were made by ancient people as a form of prayer.

Of course, they don’t serve any practical function in modern society.

But somehow, just their presence feels comforting.

Today, we’re surrounded by things that are useful.

Sometimes it even feels like people themselves are only valued if they’re useful for something.

I want there to be space for things that don’t need to be useful — but still feel nice just by being there.

That’s the feeling I hold when I create.
